The management of local natural resources is an important effort to support economic empowerment and strengthen the self-reliance of rural communities. However, the utilization of these resources needs to consider community participation, environmental sustainability, and the equitable distribution of economic benefits. This study aims to examine previous research on local natural resource management and analyze its relevance to the principles of Islamic economics. The study employs a descriptive quantitative approach through the synthesis of secondary data from 15 scientific articles published between 2018 and 2026. The data examined include community participation, changes in skills, income, and the management of local economic potential. The findings indicate that local natural resources can be utilized through various activities, including ecotourism development, organic farming, honeybee cultivation, marine product processing, and community-based business development. Several studies included in the review reported a 25% increase in the income of members of Joint Business Groups (Kelompok Usaha Bersama/KUB), as well as Village Original Revenue (Pendapatan Asli Desa/PADes) reaching IDR 14.2 billion in a village asset management initiative. These findings are further examined from the perspective of Islamic economics, particularly through the principles of khalifah fil ardh (human stewardship of the earth), mizan (balance), ta'awun (mutual cooperation), maslahah mursalah (public interest), and 'adl (justice). Based on this analysis, local natural resource management should be supported by community participation, transparent institutional governance, environmental conservation, and fair mechanisms for distributing economic benefits. Integrating Islamic economic principles can provide an ethical foundation for promoting inclusive and sustainable economic empowerment in rural communities.
