Analisis Semiotika Ruang Sakral dan Etika Lintas Iman pada Komunitas Tao Jelambar

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of the theology of encounter through the epistemological migration of postgraduate students from the Istiqlal Mosque Ulama Cadre Education programme to the Indonesian Taoist Council in Jelambar, Jakarta. Amidst the vortex of global identity polarisation, this research highlights how direct interaction can erode rigid doctrinal prejudices. Employing a qualitative approach informed by phenomenological and spatial semiotic analysis, this study documents the trajectory of empirical experiences—from the welcome at the main red gate to the shared dining table, right through to the silence of eschatological contemplation at the Rumah Abu. Field findings demonstrate that Taoist spiritual traditions possess an esoteric depth that resonates with the values of Islamic Sufism, particularly in terms of transcendental consciousness and reverence for ancestors. Encounters grounded in the ethics of hospitality and humility have been shown not to obscure religious belief but rather to strengthen the doctrine of Tawhid, which spreads compassion throughout the universe. Shared dining tables and interfaith sacred spaces are transformed into spaces for dialogue on life that break down the barriers of communal ego. This work offers a prototype for peaceful resolution within a pluralistic society whilst enriching the body of work on contextual exegesis in Indonesia by demonstrating that true harmony can be attained through sincerity of heart beneath the same sky.
