Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Project-based Inquiry learning model, using terrarium media, on students' critical thinking skills in ecosystems in tenth-grade students. Furthermore, this study evaluates the improvement in students' critical thinking skills by comparing pre-test and post-test results before and after the treatment. This study employed a quasi-experimental approach with a quantitative pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. The sample consisted of classes X1 and X2 at MA Safinatul Huda, with a total of 50 students. Class X1 served as the experimental class and class X2 as the control class. Data collection included essay questions and questionnaires. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.045, which is less than 0.05. Therefore, Ho was rejected and H1 was accepted. This demonstrates the significant effect of the Project-based Inquiry model, using terrarium media, on the critical thinking skills of tenth-grade students at MA Safinatul Huda Jepara in ecosystems. The increase in the average score of the experimental class (73.84 to 84.00) was recorded as being higher than the control class (73.04 to 80.16), which was followed by a positive increase in each critical thinking indicator.
