Pendidikan Jiwa Dalam Perspektif Syaikh Ibnu Qayyim

Abstract

The modern educational paradigm, which tends to be trapped in intellectual reductionism, has triggered a moral crisis and existential anxiety. This research re-examines the thoughts of Shaykh Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah on the education of the soul as an antithesis to these challenges. Employing a qualitative method through a philosophical-educational approach, this study examines the concept of an integrative tarbiyah, in which the education of the soul is positioned as the primary foundation for the formation of a holistic Muslim personality. The results of the analysis indicate that, according to Ibn Qayyim, the education of the soul is not merely the transmission of knowledge, but rather a process of ‘riyadhah an-nafs’ that synergises the physical, intellectual and spiritual dimensions through the methodologies of ‘mujahadah’, ‘muraqabah’ and ‘muhasabah’. This synthesis of thought affirms that true human happiness is achieved through a balance between intellectual fulfilment and spiritual purity. This article offers a visionary theoretical framework for modern educational institutions to reconstruct a curriculum that not only produces cognitively intelligent individuals but also fosters spiritual resilience and moral excellence. This research enriches the discourse on Islamic education by offering transformative solutions to the disruption of values in the contemporary era through the revitalisation of the roles of educators and parents.
