Contemporary education is often trapped in a rigid cognitive orientation and religious formalism, which risks diminishing the essence of humanity and the socio-emotional intelligence of learners. In response to these issues, this article examines the urgency and conceptual framework of the Love-Based Curriculum (KBC) as an innovative model for the development of contemporary Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Through a descriptive-analytical review based on a literature study, this research dissects the philosophical, sociological and psychopedagogical foundations of the KBC. The findings reveal that the KBC introduces a fundamental paradigm shift in education: a shift from a masculine, jalaliyah-tinged theology towards a jamaliyah-based theology of love; from a formal, law-centred (nomos-oriented) approach to religion towards an orientation centred on the wisdom of compassion (eros-oriented); and a transition from an anthropocentric-atomistic worldview towards a holistic eco-theology. In practice, this curriculum is operationalised through the philosophy of ‘Panca Cinta’ (Five Loves), which integrates love for Allah and the Prophet, knowledge, environmental sustainability, oneself and fellow human beings, and a spirit of nationalistic love for the homeland. It is concluded that the KBC is not merely an instrument for the transfer of cognitive knowledge, but rather a transformative pedagogical strategy for humanising humanity. This curriculum is expected to effectively foster a generation that is humanistic, nature-loving and tolerant, whilst also serving as a strategic foundation for addressing the challenges of the disruptive Society 5.0 era and maintaining multicultural harmony.
