KONVERSI AGAMA: PROSES DAN FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHINYA DALAM PERSPEKTIF PSIKOLOGI PENDIDIKAN ISLAM

Religious conversion is a complex psychological, social and spiritual phenomenon involving a shift in an individual’s beliefs from one religion or belief system to another. This study aims to provide a comprehensive description of the concept of religious conversion, the psychological processes experienced by individuals, and the factors influencing these processes from the perspective of Islamic educational psychology. The research method employed was a literature review (library research) utilising qualitative descriptive analysis of various academic sources. The findings indicate that religious conversion can occur through five psychological stages: a period of calm, a period of unease, the conversion phase, a second period of calm and tranquillity, and a period of expressing one’s conversion. Factors influencing religious conversion include internal factors (personality, disposition, psychological conflict) and external factors (family, environment, marriage, poverty, and the influence of culture and religious traditions). From an Islamic perspective, conversion is not merely a formal transition, but a reflection of a search for the meaning of life and a profound spiritual journey. The implication for Islamic education is the importance of a holistic approach that addresses the cognitive, affective and spiritual dimensions of learners.
