Otentisitas Hadis di Era Kontemporer: Tantangan Verifikasi Hadis di Media Sosial

Hadith is the second source of Islamic teaching after the Qur'an, whose authenticity has for centuries been safeguarded through the chain of transmission (isnad) system and rigorous hadith criticism (naqd al-hadith). The emergence of social media has fundamentally altered the pattern of production, distribution, and consumption of religious texts, including hadith, since any user may copy, excerpt, reframe, and disseminate hadith quotations without passing through authoritative scholarly mechanisms. This article aims to examine the challenges of verifying hadith authenticity on social media and to formulate mitigation measures. The research employs a qualitative library-research method with a descriptive-analytical approach, examining both classical hadith literature and contemporary digital-media studies. The findings indicate that the challenges of hadith verification on social media stem from the detachment of hadith texts from their chain of transmission and original context, the proliferation of fabricated hadith and religious hoaxes, the fragmentation of religious authority, algorithmic bias on platforms, and low public literacy regarding hadith. Mitigation efforts include the digitization of hadith compendia and takhrij applications, strengthening the role of fatwa institutions in digital spaces, religious digital-literacy education, and collaboration between hadith scholars and technology developers in designing artificial-intelligence-based verification systems. This article recommends a cross-disciplinary collaborative approach so that the scholarly tradition of hadith remains relevant and authoritative amid the fast-moving currents of digital information.
